search Only 40% Of TB Reported In DR
'The number of cases of tuberculosis in the country could be much greater than those notified to the Public Health authorities. This is because the National Program for Control of Tuberculosis only gets about 40% of those affected, while, according to the World and Pan American Health Organizations the number of persons with the sickness is around 85 to 87 per 100,000. This information was provided by the Vice Minister for Collective Health, Nelson Rodriguez Monegro, who said that the number of cases continues to be high due to the behavior pattern associated with the disease is what makes the detection of the respiratory symptoms insufficient. He said that gap must be covered and more, because there are even patients that go to the hospitals with other complaints and they are not even asked if they have a cough.'
